Orchard Private Labelling is looking for a Graphic Artist to join our team!

Who You Are

Orchard is currently seeking a Graphic Artist to contribute to the preliminary stages of the process, create, manipulate and design impactful product concepts and packaging renderings to be presented to clients, and follow through to final production. 

Knowledge of secondary, retail ready packaging and final production art is an asset.

Duties and Software Requirements

Illustrator CS6
• Design technical drawings for new product and packaging development
• Illustrate products from ideas and conception for pitching to clients
• Develop graphics and patterns for product sampling, client pitch and/or production
• Typesetting all packaging information required for press

Photoshop CS6
• Create/manipulate products to effectively communicate different design options i.e. changing colours, adding custom prints, etc.
• Manipulating photos for presentations and package design

Other
• Perform production and desktop publishing services for multiple solicitations and customer engagements, i.e. upscale client handouts and presentations
• Update corporate umbrella items (portfolio, picture spreadsheets, new customer packages, business cards,)
• Knowledge of branding and style guides

Skills/Qualifications Must Haves
• Must possess strong product and packaging design and layout ability as well as a good understanding of print production
• Experience with Illustrator CS6 and Photoshop CS6
• Proficient or working knowledge of Rhino 3D or comparable 3D software would be an asset.
• Can juggle multiple projects in a timely manner
• Deliver design solution on short turnaround times
• Ability to think outside the box and problem solve
• Highly motivated and attention to detail, with an eye for current aesthetics
• Requires minimal supervision, but is also a proactive team player who can work with others
• Strong computer illustration skills

QA MANAGER

Global responsibility
Develop, monitor and maintain processes and procedures specific to the structure of Orchard International Inc. which will ensure that the quality of product delivered to customers meets their expectations.
Specific responsibilities:
• Monitor/sign off on specifications sent to suppliers, ensuring the maximum possible technical information is included.
• Prepare and provide product specifications for major clients where product is their Private Brand.
• Communicate with clients and suppliers on all aspects of testing, identify items that need testing, arrange testing and analyze reports.
• Develop and conduct process of evaluation of samples (pre-production and production) buyers and marketing.
• Initiate inspection at factories, providing relevant information and criteria to inspectors, analyze reports, communicate with clients, as needed
• Monitor inspection of all incoming shipments. Advise relevant departments of defects reported and implement solutions.
• Monitor quality control when assembly projects are being produced. Set quality standards, monitor defect levels , implement repairs as needed.
• Provide training to staff on processes relating to Quality.
• Attend Management and Sales meetings, represent quality perspective.
• Working with Sourcing and Creative departments, evaluate quality levels of prospective suppliers.
• Conduct testing of new products, both in-house and at associate laboratory, evaluate results, prepare reports.
• Advise on requirements of all relevant Acts and Regulations, sign off on artwork of labels and hangtags
• Act as consultant to all staff on issues regarding product quality.
Education requirements:
• B.Sc. in Chemistry or related field of study, or College Diploma and 2 years experience
• Understanding of cosmetics in the North American & EU market an asset
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of Canada’s Food and Drug Act including the Cosmetic regulation
• Understanding of the Cosmetic Labeling requirements in Canada and US
• Understanding the Canadian Hazardous products act
• Good communication, problem solving, and follow up skills.
• Ability to work effectively in team settings

Orchard Private Labelling is looking for a Product Developer for our hardlines team—kind of like the air traffic controller for the beauty world!

You are always the first to know about cosmetic trends, product launches, amazing new formulas and innovative components. You are a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment that requires constant collaboration and clear communication. You look forward to continuing to grow and learn on the job and you love to share your knowledge and experience with others. Never one to say “that’s not my job,” you are happy to roll up your sleeves and help out when needed.

At Orchard, you will:
• Develop cosmetic accessory items that meet the needs and requirements of Orchard and our customers
• Source and vet vendors compatible with production and regulatory requirements
• Qualify vendors through specific questionnaire to mitigate risk
• Request samples and compare for quality and performance
• Complete product specifications
• Negotiate price, quality, delivery and payment terms
• Follow up with vendors in terms of price, packing, fact sheets and regulatory paperwork
• Present landed cost sheet to the team for quoting
• Communicate vendor issues and concerns to other departments within the company
• Actively seek out the latest cosmetic trends and beauty innovations
• Maintain backup correspondence of communication during development process
